your baby’s the size of a pomegranate!
At 10.5 inches and about 12.7 ounces, he’s big enough now that you’ve probably been feeling his movements. You may soon feel like he’s practicing martial arts as hisinitial fluttering movements turn into full-fledged kicks and nudges. You may also discover a pattern to his activity as you get to know him better. He is also starting to swallow a bit of amniotic fluid each day (for nutrition, hydration, and to practice digesting), so he eats whatever’s on your menu — and gets to put those developing taste buds to good use. So go ahead and nosh on those nachos (or crunch those crudités): Your baby may develop a taste for them when he’s older.
I can’t believe Baby Z is 21 weeks old today! It’s incredible how fast time is flying by – and even more incredible how unprepared J and I are to be parents! We are dedicating this weekend to some much-needed baby prep, so don’t be alarmed if you don’t hear from me until next week! On Saturday, we’re heading to Buy Buy Baby to put together our baby registry and check out some gliders and strollers (even though I’m pretty much set on the Uppababy Vista, J still needs some convincing….). On Sunday, we’re basically moving our entire study area in our apartment into a month-to-month storage unit, since we’re converting our study into Baby Z’s nursery for now.
The silver lining at the end of this busy weekend is that we will see Baby Z’s face for the first time in 3D bright and early on Monday morning at 8am! This is probably the first time that either of us have ever looked so forward to a Monday and the start of the new (work) week.
